Netherwitton

A few examples of where the Northumbrian landscape has been changed forever.....

Apple Tree House                    Location

The Stonemasons                     Location

Now completed this 2700 sq/ft  new build is something special

All of the reclaimed stone used in the build of Apple Tree House was sourced locally. Course stone on the front elevation and random elsewhere ensure the build compliments the picturesque surroundings in which it is set.

All the usual standard Stone Homes refinements make an appearance in this very stylish home such as, under floor heating, oil fired Aga, hand made kitchen, triple glazed mock sash windows, stained glass interior doors, etc.

Stone built with used Welsh slates employing traditional build values will give this building the feel of a house from an earlier age but with all the home comforts and ease of maintenance you would expect of a modern new build home.

Set deep in the Northumbrian countryside yet only 20 miles from Newcastle and 6 miles from the historic market town of Morpeth, Netherwitton is a picture postcard village dominated by stone built housing. The stunning coastline starting at Creswell and stretching north to Bamburgh is a very enjoyable 7 miles drive.

Now Sold

Now completed and available for immediate possession this is a dismantling and rebuild of a 100 year old masons shed.

As with all Stone Homes’ individual properties, Stonemasons is built from natural reclaimed stone, using quoins and stone from the original Mason’s shed and roofing using grey Welsh slates. The property, which now includes 0.7 acres of woodland, covers 3,800 square feet, and has five bedrooms, two of which are en-suite.

There is natural slate flooring to the kitchen/breakfast room and utility room; and antique oak flooring to the hall, lounge, cloakroom and family room complete with an antique cast spiral staircase to the mezzanine level above. In the lounge there is a traditional brick built open fireplace incorporating a wood burning stove. Some rooms will feature natural stone walls and exposed wood beams.

All external doors are hardwood, as is the main staircase, while internal doors are pine, with three Stone Homes’ trademark stained glass doors on the ground floor. The bespoke kitchen units are by JL Designs, with a range of wall and base units housing a built-in fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, waste bin and wine rack. Utility and pantry finishes complement the kitchen. All the appliances are by Bosch and the buyer has a choice of cherry wood or granite worktops.

An oil-fired AGA is fitted as standard, with an additional electric hob with canopy extractor fan. As in adjacent Apple Tree House, heating has been given careful consideration, bearing in mind the unpredictable nature of Northumbrian winters.

Ground floor heating is under floor, while the first floor has radiators fitted with individual control thermostats. Chrome towel warmers have been fitted to the main and en-suite bathrooms.

Most of the original reclaimed materials have been utilised in the build to provide the look of times gone by such as aged natural stone quoins, used welsh slates and antique roof timbers.

Many features have been designed into the build such as mezzanine floor accessed by a re-claimed cast spiral staircase, under floor heating, stoned internal door openings with colourful stained glass doors, exposed beams, feature walls built in antique brick and natural stone and the heart of any building a huge antique brick fireplace with coal fired stove.
