A Fish for Life

Following a holiday in Kenya in which we saw at first-hand how much of a struggle life can be for many, many families, we decided we must do something to help.

The decision to help was easy and instantaneous, how to help was the hardest problem to consider. So many deserving cases in desperate need of any support you may give them. Sending cash was not an option as by the time it got to the people who need it the most a good chunk of it would have been sucked up in back handers, fees, etc. We decided that helping kids gain an education that can help them perhaps break the chain of poverty was the best solution for us to support. Unlike other charities which often have overheads to support our plan utilises 100% of every penny donated to the cause.

The “fish for life” charity has been set up by Stone Homes to provide various aid for schools in Mombassa and surrounding areas but will sustain itself by importing Kenyan products the proceeds of these purchases providing a valuable income for the families who produce them. The next shipment to Kenya will then be paid for by the proceeds of the sales of these items.
The idea being “give someone a fish and they’ll eat for a day, give them a rod and show them how to use it and he will eat for the rest of his life” hence the charity name A fish for life.
