About Us

Introduction

Within the current housing market it is fair to say that potential customers have never before been offered such a wide choice of developers and builders in the North East.  Competition is hot which is why it is more important than ever to retain an edge and promote those special characteristics which make a company unique.

To sum up, Stone Homes is a small family run business with Jo and Dale Robinson as directors opting for a very ‘hands on approach’.  Now in its fourth trading year, Stone Homes have built up a successful team of local professionals and tradesmen whose combined skills make a powerful combination.   Producing two to three special properties a year, constructed in local sandstone and used Welsh slate to give an aged appearance.

Locations

Always within a country setting, Stone Homes recent properties have been situated in Northumberland villages including Budle Bay, Longhoughton and Netherwitton.  Our homes are designed to complement the environment in which they are set.

Specification & Layout

Building houses on spec, it is necessary to create properties which will appeal to the majority, but Stone Homes strives to develop an individual style for which its properties can be recognized.  Placed at the top end of the market, all our properties enjoy the benefit of high quality fixtures and fittings as standard. A hand crafted kitchen with high spec appliances; Aga; under floor heating; chrome sockets, light fittings and ironmongery;  stained glass doors; natural slate or wood flooring; feature walls and ceiling beams are ALL standard features.

If a client has exchanged contracts prior to completion, we will give as much personal choice as possible on the internal fixtures and fittings.  A great deal of time is spent with the customer, co-ordinating tiling, decoration, lighting and so on to ensure the property we are producing feels like their own dream home even before they move in.

The internal layout of a property is of vital importance and we look at length with our architect, Paul Conn as to the options for the best use of internal space.  The size of property we produce tends to mean they are sizeable family homes, therefore it is important to create the best use of space.  Breakfasting kitchens are a must, with large sitting rooms and separate family rooms preferred wherever space allows.  A house should ‘flow’, which is how we came to use stained glass doors and brick arches to allow light to reach all corners of a property.

Value For Money

Stone Homes properties are painstaking produced by skilled craftsmen who constantly put forward new creative ideas.  They take a real pride in their work and it is not to be rushed.  With our houses placed at the luxury end of the market we are able to offer those additional touches and create a high class of finish.  All fixtures, fittings and materials used are top quality and we would never compromise on quality to make financial savings.  This does not mean however, that we pay over the market value for merchandise.  Every item must be priced and agreed prior to purchase to ensure we can build the best quality house at the most realistic price.

It is not just the second fix items which give quality to a house, but also the methods used throughout construction.  The traditional method of blocks rather than timber frame are used in all Stone Homes properties, along with silent floor joists, block and beam foundations, Kingspan insulation,  waterproof Weyroc flooring and many more top quality items.

Customer Base

Recommendations are vital to the continued success of any business and this can only be achieved if our customers are satisfied with our product.  Every home we build is a showcase for what we are about and we pride ourselves on developing a relationship with our purchasers which allows us to show potential customers the properties which are complete, both internally and externally.  In fact one of the properties we are currently building at Netherwitton has been purchased by a friend of the owner of The Old Forge at Longhoughton!

 Aims

Stone Homes continue to build on our current success, producing luxurious homes in rural locations, offering a very personal service to our clients.   Our aim is to create new houses which look as if they have been part of the landscape for at least a hundred years.
